Bombs, Ghost, and Gunfire

Is there anything more obviously created by Michael Bay than a movie that is has more bombs and explosions than dialogue and plot sense? Directed by Michael Bay and released in 2019 by Netflix, 6 Underground was suppose to be an action thriller that had an interesting premise and a horrible execution.  The plot revolves around the idea that the dead can bring justice where the living can't. Now, this isn't a paranormal movie, so no actual ghosts, but we follow six people that through their own design and will, decided to join a CEO billionaire in his quest to rid the world of the truly evil. Basically, what if Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen decided to become their superhero identities, but made sure that no one knew that they were alive? Afterall, how many people can name that top 10 billionaires after Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and the uber rich man himself- Jeff Bezos? Can you name the heiress of Walmart? If you do, good for you! You are probab...

Why do some people find Encanto confusing and without a plot?

Why do some people find Encanto confusing and without a plot?  Well, as someone who’s watched the movie on repeat since it was released on Disney+ and also bought the novelization of the movie, I want to blame the idea of movies having to have a clear cut villain or evil that has to be defeated. I mean, even in the first Toy Story, it was clear that Woody was having difficulties with a new toy and it was his ego in the way. But what makes Encanto’s storyline seem so unclear? It is all needed Firstly, all of Encanto has to be paid attention to, not just the dialogue. This includes paying attention to what each song is saying and implying as well as the visual. For example, Mirabel introduces her family without saying a word about herself. The whole song just seems like a fun way to get all the characters’ names out in the open and explain the familia connection. But, what is also added to this song is the visual clues of what will be issues in the second generation of Madrigals as...

Tolkien Book Tag

This tag was created by booktuber Andrea Heckler. I tag any and all Tolkien fans who read this to do it for themselves! 1. How did your Middle Earth journey begin? Sometime in middle school, my dad brought home the "Return of the King" theatrical version. I watched the movie over 20 times during the break. When I got back to school, I saw that the movie was based on a book series and started to read.  2. What is your favorite Middle Earth book? Honestly, I love the Two Towers  but the Hobbit  stole my heart more than any other book I have read. 3. What is your favorite movie? Oh this is easy! The Two Towers. Something about the battle scenes makes me smile. 4. Movies or books? Movies for work stuff. Books for free time. 5. Who are your favorite characters? Pippin. I love that Hobbit. 6. What Middle Earth race would you be? Good question, umm I guess I'm as stubborn as Eowyn, so I would be part of the Rohirrim. 7. Best actor/...

Movie verse Book Discussion

With the release of Crazy Rich Asians around the corner, a common heated discussion among my more movie-loving friends and book-loving friends arises. Which is better: the movie or the book? Each has their strengths and weakness, but can we really decide which is better?  So, with that in mind, I thought why not write out my thoughts on the matter and be done with it. You should read the book first and then watch the movie to be able to compare the two!             So, as I have written this before, but a lot of the time, I would rather read the book first and then watch the movie. However, there have been times when I have seen the movie first and then read the book. Does doing one before the other spoil the twist and the plot? Well, for me? Nope. Not really. I am able to enjoy a book, despite knowing that a character may die or that a location is going to be destroyed. It's my gift really to just liv...

Characters Playlist Book Tag- Paramore Edition

Paramore is one of the bands that can get me moving no matter where I am. From their first hit single "Misery Business" to their new songs like "Hard Times", Paramore has created a variety of songs that deal with love, pain, being true to yourself, and self-doubt. Some of their new songs like "Idle Worship" "Tell Me How", "Told You So" and "Hard Times" tell us not only what is going on with the band's life, but connects with many issues that some twenty-ish-year-olds are dealing with, like managing the expectations that put you on this pedestal that can only lead to disappointment or failing at something and having people throw it in your face that they warned you. With that said, in honor of their new album, this is the Book Character Playlist Tag- Paramore Edition. 1. Still Into You A couple that has been together for a long time and still is in love. This goes to Mr. and Mrs. Weasley from ...

Book Adaptation Tag

Image
This book tag was found over on  Bookslovingnut 's site and I can say I have found it a bit hard to choose only one. 1. What is the last book adaptation movie you saw? Okay, so the last book adaption I saw was "The Prestige" for the seventh time. It's a great movie and there is something new I notice each time.  2. What book movie are you most excited about? "Where'd You Go, Bernadette?" I loved the book and can't wait to see what gets put on the big screen. 3. Which upcoming book movie will you definitely NOT see? "The Girl In The Spider Web." I watched the "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and no! 4. Which book movie would you NEVER watch again? "City of Bones."  Look, I like the series as a t.v show. This movie felt like a hot mess and that ending confused me so much that I almost didn't read the series.  5. Is there a movie you saw that made you want to read the book if you hadn’t yet? "Vampire...

Top 4 Disney Cinderella Retelling

Image
Disney has a film series created by Leigh Dunlap known as "A Cinderella Story", Each film is, as you guessed, a modern retelling of the Cinderella fairytale. The Cinderella in each movie is a high school senior and the servant of the evil stepmother.  Each story is, as of this moment, not connected as the other. The Cinderellas deals with different struggles both in a personal way as well as social. Now, in all honesty, I know these are not the thought-provoking, highly criticism, but they are my thoughts and opinions of the movies.     The following is not a bash on anyone's personal favorite or even a dislike of the film. So, with further ado, here we go. # 4 A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (2016) Reason: There isn't a credible threat to the Cinderella to keep her as a servant to the stepfamily.   I love Sofia Carson as an actress. Honestly, I don't think there is a role she has played...
